I like to watch a full disk at one shot when I have the time. It was tedious to return to the main menu to get to the next episode.

It's difficult to offer a complete review without offering up more in spoilers than anyone would appreciate. I will say that this season was a little darker than the first one.

The lighter moments were infrequent. Treachery and deceit are a heavy emphasis. However it's still a must watch season.

We're introduced to new characters: Hunter, Bobbi and Mack. Most important - we get answers to a lot of the questions raised in season 1: What happened to May in Bahrain?

Who is her ex-husband? What is Skye's destiny? Who are her parents? What is Fitz's condition? What is Coulson writing on the wall?

We love the show. I don't think I'm being unrealistic. But, this felt like being gouged by Twilight Time, between the lack of extras, the higher than normal price premium even the Black Friday sale, which didn't sell out btw, was MUCH pricier than the first season and other similar Disney series pricing, like Once Upon a Time and the shoddy production standards our factory sealed copy already had scratches on the discs.

We can't wait to see Season 3, but it'll likely be a while before we can justify the price, if amazon gets any more exclusives from Disney. Or worse, Season 3 doesn't get a BD release at all, if Disney thinks demand doesn't justify it, based on poor sells of Season 2, which would only be due to such a limited, pricey release model.

We might continue the series on DVD, if we absolutely have to, but only after holding out for a belated BD release or the assurance one will never come.

If the rest of the series becomes digital only, sadly we'll have to stop with season 2, as we'll never support the blatant anti-consumer, manipulative release model that is streaming.

Life in the Marvel Universe is never easy. It is fraught with danger from the weird and REALLY weird; its heroes and heroines are often conflicted and their lives are more akin to a roller coaster ride than a pleasant drive to grandma's house for Sunday dinner.

Along the way they must also try to get along with each other, which isn't as easy as it sounds, and adjust to new team members.

Oh, and they must also forge alliances with people who have betrayed them in the past in order to accomplish their missions.

The result: Excellent television. MacLachlan shone particularly bright as the erratic - and occasionally psychotic - father of Agent Skye.

Alternately frightening and tender, he was a delight to watch as he went through a series of mood changes. No plot spoilers here, but I will say that there are some wonderful - and completely unexpected - twists in the season-long narrative.

As always, the special effects are extremely well done, the acting top notch, and the scripts leavened with just the right amount of action and sly humor.

Other great guests throughout the season include Blair Underwood and Reed Diamond. I think they dialed down the references to the MCU this season.

All you get in terms of tie ins this season is a brief appearance from Maria Hill to set up Avengers 2. The two biggest drawbacks with the Blu-ray edition are the lack of extras, there are only a few deleted scenes and a blooper reel, and the lack of a play all option on the discs, which means you have to press buttons every 43 minutes, which is not practical.

Looks and sounds fantastic. One person found this helpful. Great show which fits in superbly within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it's a shame about the paucity of extra features and, unlike the first season, the lack of a Play All or Season Play option.

As such, it's a bit annoying going through the anti-piracy menu before returning to the main menu to select the next episode.

If it weren't for the limited menu options and lack of extra features, this would be an automatic five stars. The series complements the established Marvel Cinematic Universe story arcs.

The audience gets a glimpse of Agent Phil Coulson's backstory further and the other characters' as well.

With devious schemes and counter-maneuvers, it made and certified ex-S. The second season definitely solidifies the cast members' characterizations of their individual roles.

The video quality of the episodes in this edition does not differ from the first season. Surprisingly, the audio quality is way much better than the one in MCU movies on Disney-released blu-rays.

The only caveat to the otherwise superb blu-ray set is the limited special features since it only includes bloopers and deleted scenes. A fantastic ride..

This series is ABC's little gem- a slow burner during series 1, this is now set in post Captain America Winter Soldier and is now really hitting it's stride.

Without revealing any plot, this season is darker and more brutal at times but it is rewarding if you put in the time.

There are nods-a-plenty to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and even some hook-ins at times with it being dependant on it's big screen brother. My wife is now a fan and we are watching it together.

It says something of the quality when you are actively waiting for the next episode or discussing the finale and what is happening in the next season.

As a viewer you can "dip in", but the best way is to start from the beginning as there are some story arcs that run through the seasons.

Like I mentioned, a "slow burner", but stick with it - it's worth it! Totally worth getting for fans of the show.

I bought all 3 seasons on Blu-ray, will also buy the 4th season when it comes out. The video and audio quality is stunning, that's why I wanted to get the show on Blu-ray discs.
