They come together and form the "4 horsemen" magic act and try to fool everyone to fulfill the mission. Acting is great. They were all terrific.
Overall, I really like the movie. It feels like an Ocean's 11 but with magic. This film keeps you off balance the entire time while you are trying to figure out who is behind this whole scheme or how the magic tricks work which is fun and then the film explains it so you get it later.
There was a twisty surprise ending as you can imagine which makes me want to watch it again to see if it all really lines up when you know what;s coming.
Its's entertaining enough, well acted, and great visuals so it won't be a bad time if I do. I rated it a 4 because it's not my favorite movie but I do like it.
Top critical review. Reviewed in the United States on July 1, Style far over substance; unfortunately, it's not exceptionally stylish either, and far less entertaining than such a slight movie with a potentially intriguing premise should be.
What moves it from three to two stars for me is the sense I had of being "cheated". If you're going to make a film about magic tricks and you're going to use them as plot devices, then you should make the execution of the tricks plausible enough that there is a satisfying answer to how the tricks are done.
As audience, we are expected to believe these magicians are so exceptional at their craft that they can do impossible things, but unlike a magic show where the trick is not revealed and you are left wondering but satisfied, in this case the lack of explanation for the frankly impossible things they do simply feels like lazy writing, a perpetual deus ex machina instead of putting in the effort to contrive some really interesting puzzles and solutions.

Many films have tried to make it cool, and this one tries perhaps a bit too hard. And some seemingly clever tricks that -- spoiler alert -- get explained.
And the First Rule of Magic Club is that you never, ever explain the trick. What almost saves "Now You See Me" is a pretty clever plot which, wait for it, is kind of a magic trick itself.
See how I did that? Some unseen force has brought together a group of street magicians to form a lamely named group called The Four Horseman, which is mildly micro-aggressive because one of those men is a woman, played by Isla Fisher.
