I tend to prefer movies that don't leave the young ones in tears or afraid to go to sleep. I wish we hadn't bothered with this movie, I don't see how anyone can think this story beautiful or sweet.
It's horrible absolutely horrible!!! Wendy and her twin brothers are basically told that there is only one rule on the island, you must run around wild and out of control, don't stop to think or feel or you will almost instantly grow old and be abandoned by your former friends and siblings.
One of the twins is thought dead so the other twin is sad and becomes old and when everyone else leaves the island and goes back to their hardworking loving mother, they leave the one brother behind, he can never leave the island.
The brother is basically abandoned and forgoten while the rest of the kids go and live their lives, and ends with Wendy in the dirt on her knees as her daughter goes off to maybe never return.
She goes to an island run by a "mother" that is so beautiful and sweet she kills her children and demands their friends and siblings not morn or their lives for all intents and purposes are over.
Great message this show has, if you want to live, don't think, don't care, just keep moving. Your friend or twin brother die? The proper response is "don't morn don't feel, just run away from your problems and feelings, To feel sad is bad, you have to put a happy face or you are a bad guy, a villian.
Paradise, looked alot like hell. I saw no beauty in this waste of time and money. Much to the chagrin of some viewers, it puts the wild Pan back into Peter, and reminds us that children are not possessions, but beings with secrets and mysteries not even their parents will ever truly understand.
The adaptation brushes up against familiar archetypes from the JM Barrie original, but pushes the themes to new levels of understanding. The references to the original will sneak up on you.
The twists on the old elements will surprise you and make you look at this story in a whole new way. A more beautiful way of experiencing the world!
The texture, light and sensory experience of this world is astonishingly beautiful. This movie brought me so much joy and unleashed deep emotion.
I can't think of a film experience I have responded to like this in years! I much enjoyed this film as both a visual art form and an emotional retelling of the Peter Pan story.
Wendy as the main character is strong-willed in ways I could appreciate for the story, and all the child actors were brilliant in their performance.
Some lines felt a bit overemphasized, but I suppose that's to be expected due to their age. As for the story itself, there were moments I thought it fell flat and got confusing particularly when they travel to the island, and it never explains exactly how they got back.
There wasn't quite enough character development or exploration in my opinion, which seemed stunted in favor of the cinematography.
