Doesnt follow tropes. Has a realistic relationship that isnt some bizarre tragic murder scene. And the attractiveness of the lead is real.

I mean geesh she is a mythology professor and has a beautiful and innocent energy about her which fit her role. Anyways, this isnt an art house movie.

We're supposed to sympathize with protagonist but she feels too passive, dull to garner any integrity from.

She wants to explore same sex relations, but is too much of a stick in the mud to actually stand up for herself. The erotic scenes were there but nothing to write home about.

Finally, a movie about lesbians that doesn't end in death or hetero 'taming' of the lesbian main character. It is steeped in mid's aesthetics which is fun and nostalgic.

The male main character was a bit irritating in that his aggression was not called out, but this is just evidence of that era. The plot was really not that interesting only because the story stayed on a surface level, but it was a quick, enjoyable view.
