The Room is one of the most fun experiences I've had watching a film and it is one of the worst movies I have actually ever seen.
But, as long as the film embraces its sillier aspects and doesn't take itself too seriously, then a franchise shouldn't be that hard to pull off.
If Underworld can have, what, two sequels and one prequel then this movie surely can, well if it had been successful. There's nothing that is demonstrably better about the Underworld series that makes me saying this such an absurd notion.
Like I said, however, this movie isn't good in the slightest. I just think that, again, fits into that line of lame fantasy action films like Seventh Son that try to be cool, but end up being anything but.
The movie just lacks a certain edge, parts of me feel that it plays it too safe with the PG rating, because the violence in the film is a little too vanilla for me.
PG definitely was the rating they were going for in order to ensure a broader audience, but I don't think this movie was gonna end up being that successful anyways.
These movies usually have a really tough time finding an audience. Dracula Untold was actually really successful, at least worldwide, but did anyone really care about any of those films?
Not to mention the fact that stylistically and visually all of these films look very similar. They have hard time gaining real ground.
Again, Dracula Untold was fairly successful, but it's not a movie that anybody really remembers. And that's a similar fate that I see for this film.
It's not that it's even a terrible movie, though I can see how some people might think it is. In a lot of ways it actually is, but I also realized that this was never meant to be anything more than what it actually is.
It's purposely a B-movie and I think that's what a lot of people fail to realize. Though, of course, that doesn't excuse the movie for not being good, but it also helps in not taking it so serious and trying to analyze every last aspect of the film.
I like Vin Diesel and he's perfectly fine here. I mean, he's obviously not what one would call a good actor, but the guy is real charismatic and he can be charming when he wants to and I think that the movie doesn't really use him as effectively as he has been used in Riddick, for example.
He's obviously most known for Fast and Furious, but I think Riddick is the perfect vehicle for him and his particular set of talents, even more so than the Fast and Furious franchise.
The story is nothing special and it is not particularly well-written. There's bits and pieces here, but they never seem to do anything all that interesting with it.
Like I mentioned earlier, it's something that they could expand upon, but I don't expect them to since the film wasn't that successful at the box office.
And even if it was, I don't see people liking this movie enough to ensure that a sequel would also be successful. It's a type of one-and-done.
With that said, I didn't hate this as much as I would've expected, and I also rented it for free on Redbox, so that helps.
I can't exactly recommend this movie, but it's not like I can say that I felt like I felt like I wasted my time.
I wish I would've gotten a better movie, but it didn't make me want to pull my hair out. Watch at your own risk.

The story follows an immortal witch hunter named Kaulder as he investigates the death of a priest who he worked with in the battle against evil.
The plot is extremely hard to follow, as things just happen from scene to scene with unintelligible exposition about witchcraft.
And Vin Diesel seems to be putting no effort into his performance; though his co-star, Rose Leslie, has some charisma. The creature designs are somewhat interesting, but they're a bit too surreal for the aesthetic of the film.
The Last Witch Hunter tries too hard to be an epic fantasy saga, and ends up being an incoherent mess. Dann M Super Reviewer. Feb 07, The film has the bling: sexy stars, super visuals, energetic sound track, and a lot of exciting action.
But other than that, it lacks substance: a confusing script paired with sub-par acting make for a confusing, messy witches' brew.
No performer is good other than Caine, and possibly Englebrecht, and it is undoubtedly the worst performance Elijah Wood has had the misfortune of committing to celluloid.
If you're looking for stupid, stylish action fun, this is an okay movie -- but otherwise, it culls the bottom of the cauldron.
